Die Hosts, Strübin und Lussi, verbinden Disziplinen, die sich ergänzen und kontrastieren – mit dem Wunsch nach mehr Selbstorganisation und Community.
KONZEPT
Backyards sind geschützte, oft verborgene Räume, die eine wichtige Rolle für die Gemeinschaft spielen. Ihre Zäune oder Mauern bedeuten nicht nur Abgrenzung, sondern auch Schutz und Geborgenheit. Diese Ambivalenz zwischen Intimität und Öffentlichkeit, Rückzug und Austausch ist für das Kollektiv zentral.
Das kuratorische Konzept baut auf dem Grundgedanken des Verbindens und Vernetzens auf und wird von einem bestehenden Netzwerk ausgehend erweitert.
Neben thematischen Ausstellungen bietet backyard society einen Rahmen für Klang-Performances und Soirées. Den Auftakt bildet eine Abbruchliegenschaft – sie bietet einen perfekten ersten Rahmen für backyard society.
Auf einen Abbruch kann ein Aufbruch folgen. In diesem Sinne beschäftigt sich backyard society mit dem Raum dazwischen: ein Raum, in dem Experimente möglich sind, Neues angedacht und ausprobiert werden kann.

In addition to thematic exhibitions, backyard society provides a framework for sound performances and soirées. The project begins in a building slated for demolition – a perfect first setting for backyard society.
Demolition can be followed by departure. In this sense, backyard society is concerned with the in-between space: a space where experiments are possible, where new ideas can be conceived and tested.
